The Leaf Lady offers shipping to the contiguous US states from our Bend, Oregon nursery to your doorstep. Today I want to share with you the proven steps that I take to ensure your plant arrives looking its best.
When I receive your order, my first step is always to choose the happiest plant in my nursery for you. Next, I tape up the top of the pot to prevent the potting medium from falling out during shipping. It also provides a bit more insulation for the root system to stay its healthiest.
The pot is then taped inside a piece of cardboard and rolled up. The corrugated cardboard prevents the plant from getting squished or moving during shipping.
The top of the cardboard roll is then stuffed with packing material in order to protect the leaves and insulate the plant somewhat from some cold weather.
The cardboard roll is then placed inside of a box that is padded with bubble wrap. I make sure the plant does not move inside of the box by filling in all of the gaps
Your box will be labeled with "The Leaf Lady", "Fragile" and "Live Plants" stickers so the shipping company will know to give your package the best care possible on its journey to you.
During the colder months a heating pack will automatically be added to your shopping cart. It’s a very good idea to buy a heating pack if you are making a purchase during the Winter months. The pack will help to protect your package from the cold weather and keep it healthy during its long journey from our nursery in Oregon. I buy long lasting heating packs so that your package will still be warm when it arrives. You will be responsible for cold weather damage to your plant if you do not purchase a heating pack during the Winter months. See the Returns page’s “Weather Damage” section for related information.
